Philicia Long
Prior to her work as a private detective, Investigator Philicia Long began her law enforcement career with the Nags Head Police Department as a patrol officer. Later she worked as a sheriff’s deputy with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office before going to Morehead City Police Department. During this time Philicia went back to college to finish her bachelors degree in Criminology and graduated at the top of her class, Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.
While at Morehead City PD she was promoted to Sergeant and Field Training Officer, during her time there she received diverse experience in a variety of assignments. The Department did not have an established Criminal Investigations Division at the time so she was fortunate to able to work all of her own cases from beginning to end, which included successfully investigating burglaries, robberies, rapes and deaths. As a sergeant, Philicia worked as a narcotics officer, collaborating jointly with the FBI, SBI, DEA and other law enforcement and military resources. Philicia also served with the department as traffic enforcement officer, public relations officer, bike patrol and a public housing officer. She was eventually promoted to the position of Department Training and Evidence Officer.
Philicia left law enforcement to manage a medical clinic where she specialized in workers compensation and insurance claims. During this time she gained valuable experience and contacts with the nation’s major insurers and workers compensation companies to evaluate new and on-going claims for care and compensation, which included identifying malingers and fraudulent claims.
Philicia eventually began working for Homeland Security Solutions aboard MC Base Camp Lejeune and MC Air Station New River where her law enforcement background and experience were instrumental in a variety of assignments with the Marine Corp Provost Marshalls Office to include work with accident reports, police blotters, and the PMO training department implementing a new program called DHART, which documents all of the Marine Corp civilian police officers and Marine Corp MP’s personal information and training.
