Mike Fey
Mike Fey began his law enforcement career with the Wilmington NC, Police Department in 1991. After three years of working patrol, he was assigned to the Public Housing Unit where he established a pronounced police presence in the public housing community. During his time in the Housing Unit, Fey established many confidential informants. Fey was then transferred to the Detective Division in 1997 where he successfully investigated burglaries, robberies, rapes and homicides. The informants he gained while in the housing unit carried over to his detective work, where he was able to put the valuable information to use to solve reported crimes. Fey was the youngest police officer ever promoted to Sergeant. There he quickly gained a reputation teaching new officers how to work the street, gain informants and make successful arrests. Mike Fey was shot in the line of duty on July 29, 2005. After fighting a courageous recovery, he is now working as a private detective for Cape Fear Investigative Services.
