Chrystal Medlin
Chrystal began her law enforcement career in 1999 when she was the recipient of the North Carolina Police Corps scholarship. After being accepted to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Chrystal moved to Wilmington and immediately began working at Wilmington Police Department as a Police Cadet.
Chrystal’s duties as a Cadet included, but were not limited to the following: Working the front desk as a call taker and report filer, assisting the Criminal Investigation Division Detectives with active cases, working with Juvenile Detectives on active cases, and was appointed to the first Violent Crime Task Force which was a joint task force with local, state, and federal agents.
After graduating from UNCW with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice degree in 2003, Chrystal went to Salemburg, NC to complete six months of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET). While at Salemburg, Chrystal received over 1400 hours of law enforcement training.
In December 2003, Chrystal was sworn in as a police officer at the Wilmington Police Department and started working each district in Wilmington as a street officer. In May of 2007, Chrystal was transferred to a Detective position in the Vice and Narcotic Division where she spent three and a half years working undercover drug cases and prosecuting drug traffickers in Wilmington and surrounding areas.
